Currently, numbers of tourist attractions and events in Japan are temporarily closed or cancelled due to the prevention of Coronavirus (Covid-19) spread including Tokyo Disneyland & DisneySea, Universal Studios Japan, Ghibli Museum and Teamlab Borderless Museum. As the virus fear grows, more and more closures and cancellations have been announced day by day.
▶ List of Places in Japan that are Closed due to Coronavirus (Covid-19)
Cherry blossoms are the top tourist attraction in Japan, drawing millions of visitors from across the world, and its season is arriving here very soon. However, it looks like we are going to welcome this most beautiful time of the year with the worst circumstances in 2020.
Sadly, a lot of cherry blossom festivals (Sakura Matsuri) in Japan are now being cancelled due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak including two most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in Tokyo: Meguro River and Ueno Park.
Of course, cherry blossoms will still be blooming as per every year, and these places are open for public. However, special events, food stalls and night illumination won’t be available at many cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan in order to minimize the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
If you are planning to visit Japan for cherry blossom viewing this year, please check out the list of the 2020 cherry blossom festivals in Japan that are cancelled due to Coronavirus (Covid-19).
NOTE: The information might change day by day, so we advise you to check their official websites before visiting.
