The Fuji Five Lakes are popular sightseeing spots near Mt Fuji through the year, and each lake offers an astonishing view of Mt Fuji. Lake Kawaguchiko is the most accessible and touristic lake among 5 with various tourist attractions such as rope-way, museums, hot spring Onsen, restaurants, shops, etc, as well as special events held through the year.
Lake Kawaguchiko is especially popular during cherry blossom season. There are about 300 cherry trees planted and stretching for about 1 km along the north shore of the lake. Visitors can enjoy the stunning scenery and strolling down the promenade next to the lake. The festival features vending stalls with various local food, drinks and craft as well as the night light-up of cherry blossoms which are available after sunset till 9 pm during the season
The best viewing time for cherry blossoms in Lake Kawaguchiko area is early to mid April usually, and the Cherry Blossom Festival is held during this period.
