Best Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea in Tokyo for Spring 2023
Spring is Japan is one of everyone’s favorite seasons since is sakura/cherry blossom season! If you can’t make in on time to see the full bloom of the cherry blossoms, don’t worry. From hanami to cherry blossom festivals, events and food they are many ways to enjoy the sakura season in Tokyo. But one of my top things to do in Tokyo in Spring in Tokyo is Sakura afternoon tea!
Afternoon Tea have become the latest trend in Japan, specially in Tokyo. During Spring several luxury hotels and cafes offers afternoon tea with sakura themed food and drinks, a different and delicious way to enjoy the cherry blossoms.
In this article I’m going to introduce you some of the best Sakura afternoon tea spots taking place in Tokyo this Spring 2023. For those who are planning to be Tokyo in this season, I highly recommend have this experience that it’s only available this time of the year at least once in a lifetime! Treat yourself with fancy as well as delicious cherry blossom afternoon tea.

THE STRINGS OMOTESANDOH
The Strings Omotesando, popular for its themed afternoon teas that change its appearance according to the changing seasons will serve Cherry & Strawberry Afternoon Tea for a limited time from March 2nd (Thursday) to April 23 (Sunday), 2023 at their Cafe & Dining Zelkova located in the 1st floor. The menu features cherry blossoms and strawberry sweets, including cherry blossom-flavored Mont Blanc with strawberries and chocolate dip decorated with cherry flakes and savory items as the pink mini sandwiches with cherry-scented cream cheese and smoked salmon. In addition the taiyaki-shaped monaka, highly popular in 2020, is back this year!
with 16 types of tea, herbal tea, standard coffee, cafe latte, and more from TWG tea.

HAUTE COUTURE CAFE
Haute Couture Cafe is a fashionable cafe located in Nakameguro that offers seasonal Afternoon Tea. The food and the decoration of the local change according to each season, and in the past years has become quite popular on social media for being really cute and photo-worthy. Their SAKURA Afternoon Tea is highly popular and as the place is small (only 19 seats) it gets fully booked easily.
From March 1st to April 24th in Haute Couture Cafe you don’t only enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossom in super cute and delicious themed food and drinks but also with the design of the store interior, full of cherry blossoms in full bloom. And you can also see the real cherry blossoms in full bloom from the large windows!

Conrad Tokyo
Sakura Strawberry Graceful Afternoon Tea is a luxurious afternoon tea featuring the exquisite harmony of cherry blossoms and strawberries hold at Conrad Tokyo for a limited-time. The glass plate is topped with special sweets such as strawberry panna cotta with cherry blossom jelly and shiratama (Japanese dessert made with glutinous rice flour), and Sakura Mochi Verrine topped with whole white strawberries, called Awayuki in Japanese.
The Sakura Strawberry Graceful Afternoon Tea will be available from Wednesday, March 1 to Sunday, May 7, 2023. In addition Conrad Tokyo also offers Night Cherry Blossom High Tea, an afternoon tea at night where you can enjoy the cherry blossoms and night view from the 28th floor, as well as seasonal strawberry and cherry blossom sweets. Free-flow drinks including alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine are also included in the set.

Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo will serve #Ohanami Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea from March 1 (Wed) to April 30 (Sun), 2023. The #Ohanami Sakura Afternoon Tea is an afternoon tea featuring a variety of sakura sweets, as the Sakura Lemon Marshmallow Tart, which has a fluffy scent of strawberries scented with cherry blossom leaves, the Sakura Berry Choux, with s a crunchy chocolate crunch and a moist texture decorated with cherry blossom jelly on top or the Sakura Cheesecake with ruby chocolate imitating fresh strawberries and cherry blossom petals. In addition, there are 9 types of sweets that you can fully feel the cherry blossoms, such as cherry blossom donuts and cherry blossom macaroons.
The set also includes a choice of main course from 5 popular brunch menu and a seasonal salad.
Hanami means cherry blossom viewing in Japanese, and the “#Ohanami Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea also includes content that allows visitors to enjoy cherry blossoms floating on the screen through an AR function using a smartphone.

Royal Park Hotel Tokyo
The Royal Park Hotel Cherry Blossom Viewing Afternoon Tea, which is popular every year, will be held again in 2023 from April 1 (Saturday) to April 30 (Sunday). Based on the image of cherry blossoms in full bloom the Cherry Blossom Viewing Afternoon Tea will offer elegant chocolates with motifs of cherry blossoms, bush warblers, and folding fans, as well as matcha and black honey bavarois.
The middle tier features a lineup of light “cherry blossom” colored sweets. The lineup includes roll cake with a hint of cherry blossoms, “Sakura Mont Blanc” with a white bean paste base and cherry cream, and “Sakura and Strawberry Mousse” with the perfect combination of gentle cherry blossoms and sweet and sour strawberry jelly.

Sakura-themed afternoon tea with Tokyo Tower views! Andaz Tokyo will offer their popular annual Sakura Garden Afternoon Tea at its 52nd floor Rooftop Bar on Saturdays and Sundays only, except the first week of April 2023. This cherry blossoms themed afternoon tea features a lineup of gorgeous savories and sweets reminiscent of cherry blossoms in full bloom in a one-of-a-kind location where you can view the cherry blossoms and a spectacular view of Tokyo at the same time.
In addition, Andaz Tokyo will also hold Springberry Afternoon Tea, an afternoon tea featuring an abundance of seven kinds of brightly colored berries, from April 1 (Sat) to May 31 (Wed), 2023 at The Tavern Grill & Lounge on the 51st floor.

Shangri-La Tokyo will offer a cherry blossom afternoon tea set called Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea from April 1 (Sat) to April 30 (Sun), 2023. This afternoon tea features a variety of Japanese and Western spring sweets, including skewered dumplings topped with cherry bean paste, mascarpone mousse with cherry jam, cherry pie and bitter chocolate-flavored creme brulee.
Shangri-La Tokyo Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea makes full use of seasonal ingredients such as cherry blossoms and asparagus and the presentation is also in cherry blossom colors to remind us of the arrival of spring

Hotel Gajoen Tokyo presents Sakura Afternoon Tea with a menu featuring cherry blossoms-themed sweets with Japanese flavors, such as Sakura and Strawberry Mont Blanc, fresh strawberries covered in strawberry cream on top of cherry sweet bean paste or Shiokoji Mousse with cherry bean paste in between. From March 1 (Wed) to April 2 (Sun), 2023, Hotel Chinzan-so Tokyo will offer its Sakura Afternoon Tea. Hotel Chinzan-so Tokyo’s Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea stars gorgeous pink sweets inspired by cherry blossoms, including a delicious and beautigul Sakura Mont Blanc that reminiscent the cherry blossoms in full bloom. Visitors can also includes a cherry blossom champagne welcome drink to the plan.
The Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea is served in Le Jardin, located overlooking the garden, where 100 cherry trees of about 20 varieties are at their best through April.

The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho will offer a variety of menus to enjoy cherry blossoms and spring, including a unique and original afternoon tea with Temari sushi made by artisan chefs and cherry blossom parfait, available from March 1, 2023 (Wednesday).
Japanese Afternoon Tea ~華凛~ (mean something like gorgeous stylish) is a Japanese themed afternoon tea featuring sushi made by top sushi chefs using seasonal ingredients such as tuna, salmon and caviar and more. The menu also includes others traditional Japanese dishes and a dessert plate.

If the Afternoon tea idea is a bit pricey and too much food for you, I have a recommendation for you! Q-Pot Cafe in Harajuku is offering a delicious and cute plate that features sakura meringue and sakura mont blanc, with a slight cherry blossom tint. The cute Obake-chan (mini-Ghost) is made of strawberry mousse, whipped cream and chocolate crunch are wrapped in soft gyuhi (traditional Japanese sweet made of glutinous rice).
