Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the most well-known and popular Japanese anime of all time. 2020 is truly a big year for EVA fans as the new and final movie in the Rebuild of Evangelion reboot series, “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 (シン・エヴァンゲリオン劇場版:||)” was scheduled to be released in late June (however, the release date has been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the new release date has not been announced yet as of 30 May 2020). With much anticipation, various special events and merchandise have been released to celebrate this special year such as a collaborated T-Shirt collection with UNIQLO and a special Evangelion themed Tamagotch.
In late May 2020, another amazing news has been announced for EVA fans! Yes, the Evangelion themed cafe will be opening in Tokyo for a temporary time this summer. The special collaboration cafe, EVANGELION CAFE&DINER, will be an American diner style with the concept of “Eva Pop Art” and offering a limited-edition menu with themed food and drinks inspired by Evangelion characters and aircraft!
The EVANGELION CAFE&DINER will be taking place at TOKYO PARADE goods & cafe on the 6th floor of Shibuya PARCO in Tokyo. The cafe will be open for a limited time from 1 June to 2 August 2020 (11:30~19:30). (Shibuya PARCO has been temporarily closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and it’s re-opening from 1 June 2020)
The themed dishes, desserts and drinks includes “Shinju Avocado Burger”, “Asuka Meatball Pasta”, “Rei Cheesecake”, “Misato Berry Pancake”, “Unit-8 Pink Lemonade” and character printed cafe latte. Alcohol beverage is also available after 17:00.
Moreover, the cafe will be offering an original merchandise such as keyrings, pens, notebooks and bags which are all exclusively sold at the cafe store.
Pre-booking is not required. However, the cafe will be issuing entrance tickets when it’s crowded, so guests can register wait until entering the cafe without standing in a line. Also the usage of the cafe might be limited to 60 mins when it’s crowded.
Every customer can receive a replica ticket randomly chosen from 6 types with different Evangelion characters printed. Also, a cafe original coaster will be given for each drink order, which are also randomly chosen from 6 designs (available while stocks last).
