As the past several years, hundreds of new anime series were created and broadcasted in 2021 as well. Some finest recent anime were made into international versions with subs and dubs almost at the same time as the original Japanese editions were released.

How many latest anime did you watch in 2021? And, what is the best anime of 2021? Here is a complete list of 20 best anime released in 2021 including the brand new titles and the following seasons of the popular current series.

For your information, this 2021 best anime list does not include one of the hottest series Jujutsu Kaisen, which started airing last year. I also refrained from adding Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2, which just began in the end of 2021, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, which was pre-delivered exclusively on Netflix.

To Your Eternity (不滅のあなたへ) is one of the top-rated anime series aired in 2021, adapted from the Yoshitoki Oima’s manga series serialized on Weekly Shonen Magazine since 2016. There are 20 episodes in the first season of the anime series, which tells a grand fantasy story of a young boy named Fushi. Fushi travels around the world as a substance that can transfigure itself into various things and people inspired by all beings.

19. Fruits Basket: The Final

Finally, the well-known romance anime series released its last part as Fruits Basket: The Final (フルーツバスケット The Final) from April to June, 2021. The shojo manga series of Fruits Basket was serialized between 1998 and 2006, and all parts of the 23 volumes have been adapted into the three seasons of the anime series since the first season was broadcast in 2019. The 2022 new anime movie Fruits Basket: Prelude presents the following story of Tohru and Kyo.

17. Uma Musume Pretty Derby Season 2

In 2021, the second season of Uma Musume Pretty Derby (ウマ娘 プリティーダービー) followed the first season that was released in 2018. The unique horse racing themed series is also famous for the smash-hit mobile game released at the same year as the season 2. The latest season centers on Tokai Teio and Mejiro Mcqueen set in 1991-1993 while the first season features Special Week set in 1998-1999. 16. Beastars Season 2

The popular coming-of-age drama manga series Beastars was first adapted into the anime series in 2019, and the next season was broadcasted in the spring of 2021. The popular modern action manga Record of Ragnarok was made into the anime adaptation in 2021. The first 12 episodes were exclusively streamed on Netflix from June and aired on television from October. The 13-episode unique animation was created by two studios P.I.C.S. and OLM together.
