Universal Studios Japan in Osaka has just announced a new collaboration with the anime series SPY x FAMILY, one of the biggest hits of 2022. The park will be featuring a limited-time attraction called SPY x FAMILY Secret Mission from February 17th to July 2nd, 2023.
Based on the manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo, SPY x FAMILY combines thrilling spy action with heartwarming comedy elements. Serialized on the Shosen Jump+ app since 25 March 2019, the story follows an atypical family consisting of Loid Forger, the world’s best spy (alias Twilight); Yor, a professional assassin; and Anya, an young orphan girl with telepathic abilities. With the exception of Anya, the members of the family are unaware of each other’s secret identities.
As part of Universal Cool Japan 2023, SPY x FAMILY will be making its debut at USJ in Spring 2023. The event, which features popular Japanese works, will include a live entertainment show that invites visitors to participate in a “riddle-solving rally” for the first time in the history of the anime. As rookie agents of the secret organization WISE, visitors will join the Forger family on a top-secret mission that leads to Operation Strix, the mission Lloyd is carrying out in the anime. [Using wit and ingenuity as a spy, he tries to decipher the codes in the park.]
The interactive attraction combines a riddle-solving rally where guests solve codes hidden throughout the park, with a live entertainment show that can only be experienced by those who have deciphered the codes. If the new agents succeed in deciphering the codes, Lloyd grants them the right to take part in a special mission. During this mission, Lloyd, Anya and Yor will actually appear in front of them and a live entertainment show will be staged to immerse them in the world of the SPY x FAMILY anime!
