Sapporo White Illumination is a classical winter illumination event held in Sapporo City in Hokkaido annually, which can be enjoyed with the authentic German Christmas Market and the famous Sapporo Snow Festival!
Winter Illuminations are one of the top winter attractions in Japan, and numbers of spectacular illumination events are held across the country during winter. Sapporo White Illumination (さっぽろホワイトイルミネーション) is one of the most popular and long-running illumination events in Japan, which is held in the capital city of Hokkaido, Sapporo annually.
The 44th Sapporo White Illumination will be held from 22 November 2024 to 14 March 2025. The colourful and romantic illuminations will take place at several locations in Sapporo City including Odori Park which is the venue for Sapporo Snow Festival. The spectacular illuminations can be enjoyed with the famous winter event during the season!
Sapporo first started hosting a German style Christmas Market during Christmas season back in 2002 as a sister city of Munich, and the German Christmas Market in Sapporo is held annually for a limited time until Christmas with numbers of stalls, offering authentic Christmas food, drinks, craft items and ornaments. Visitors enjoy festive winter illumination along with classic Christmas ornaments and lights.
Sapporo White Illumination can be enjoyed with another spectacular and very anticipating winter event in the city. The 75th Sapporo Snow Festival will be held from 4 to 11 February 2025. The snow and ice artworks are collaborated with special light effects and can be enjoyed after dark.

Sapporo White Illumination 2024-2025 will be held from 22 November 2024 and run until 14 March 2025 (will end earlier in some sites).
