Mie
Mie is located in the south side of Western Japan. Ise Grand Shrine, which is also a famous tourist’s destination among the Japanese, is located in Ise-Shima area in Mie. The shrine is known as the most sacred place for Shintoism which is considered the national religion rooted in Japan, and many worshipers constantly visit it. The place had became famous since Edo period when the custom of Okage Mairi Pilgrimage spread all over the country. Japanese tourists have visited since then showing their faith in Shintoism. There are several themed parks in Mie Prefecture, and the most popular one would be the flower themed Nana no Sato. You can see the beautifully adorned illuminations from autumn to spring. Of course, the car racing lovers know that there is an international Formula One Circuit, Suzuka Circuit in Mie. It is always crowded with tourists from all over the world.
