Mie is located in the south side of Western Japan. Ise Grand Shrine, which is also a famous tourist’s destination among the Japanese, is located in Ise-Shima area in Mie. The shrine is known as the most sacred place for Shintoism which is considered the national religion rooted in Japan, and many worshipers constantly visit it. The place had became famous since Edo period when the custom of Okage Mairi Pilgrimage spread all over the country. Japanese tourists have visited since then showing their faith in Shintoism.
