Before I go into specifics, it’s important to know that there’s a difference between “Shibuya” and “Shibuya City”. When people just say “Shibuya”, that usually refers to the area around Shibuya station. However, when people say “Shibuya City” or “Shibuya-ku”, this refers to the ward of Shibuya(Shibuya city is one of the 23 wards that compose Tokyo).

Renting an apartment in Shibuya city is usually not cheap. On average, rent in Shibuya rank in the higher spots when it comes to price. The following table shows the average market price of apartments in Shibuya city. Of course, prices can vary a lot depending on the size, age, and location of the apartment.

Reasons to live in this area include: having great transportation access to pretty much anywhere, being close to any kind of shops and services, and most importantly, being able to tell your friends abroad that you live in Shibuya!

– 3rd. Takeshita Street: Harajuku’s busiest fashion street. Birthplace for Japanese kawaii (cute) culture and a hub for spreading Tokyo’s pop culture to the world.

– 4th. Meiji Shrine: One of the most popular and largest Shinto shrines in Tokyo. It is an oasis within the busy towns of Harajuku and Shibuya.
