Yamagata
Yamagata is one of the prefectures in Tohoku Region, and Yamagata’s west side faces the Pacific Ocean. Rich natural environment allows the region to develop its own unique tourism attractions. For those who like hiking, Dewa Sanzan is the place to visit, one of the most popular hiking spots in the country. Ginzan Onsen, one of the most popular onsen towns in Yamagata, has the ambiance of 19th century in Japan and you will be more familiar with old good days of Japanese culture. Yamagata is also famous for its ski resorts and there you can observe the amazing winter scenery called Snow Monsters only in Yamagata. The Yamadera Temple on top of the mountain, where you can overlook Yamagata's nature, is particularly popular with tourists.
