5 Most Recommended Anime Similar to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Many manga fans have missed the recent popular manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba since it was concluded in May 2020. The anime adaptation has not been finished yet. The season 1 started with the first 26 episodes in 2019, followed by the second season in 2021, the third season in 2023 and the fourth season in 2024.
There are a large number of anime titles focusing on powerful battles, a deep bong between family and friends and attractive characters as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba depicts them. Today, I’d like to introduce the best anime like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
About Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (鬼滅の刃), started its publication on Weekly Shonen Jump in 2016, just ended its run in May 2020 though it was at the peak of its popularity all over the world. In 2019, the first season of an anime adaption was aired with 26 episodes, and the sequel with the title Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train will be released as an anime movie in October 2020.
The world of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is set in Japan around the Taisho period (1912-1926). Demons, a symbol of the dark-fantasy anime, exist in the human society threatening peace of human beings. One day, the main character Tanjiro Kamado’s family is attacked by demons. They are killed except his sister Nezuko who is transformed into a demon by the leader of demons named Muzan Kibutsuji.
Tanjiro decides to become a demon slayer to save his sister and his adventure begins. On the middle of the journey, he meets good friends Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira and is inspired by the Hashira who are the 9 most powerful soldiers in the Demon Slayer Corps. The story depicts the fight between the demon slayers and Muzan Kibutsuji with the Twelve Kizuki that consists of 12 very powerful demons.

Japanese wisteria is depicted in the anime as a symbol of the charm against demons, and you can see beautifully bloomed wisteria in Japan. 1. Naruto
Naruto (ナルト), one of the most recommended anime like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, is the adventure anime with the theme of Ninja. It was originally published as a manga with 72 volumes since 1999 till 2014. The first part of an anime adaption was aired from 2002 to 2007 with 220 episodes and 3 anime movies. The second part, titled “Naruto: Shippuden”, was broadcasted between 2007 and 2017 with 500 episodes and 7 anime movies.
The setting is the fictional Ninja world in the present day, and the story follows a young boy Ninja named Naruto. He is looked on as an inferior Ninja student in academic and fighting skills to others at first but decides to become the leader of the country Hokage. The anime depicts the growth of the various Ninja characters, tight-knit relationships, treachery and other themes.
The brave and passionate character Naruto is associated with Tanjiro Kamado who is also considerate of family and friends. Each character including friend and foe alike is well designed with a unique personality in the both anime.
2. Inuyasha
Inuyasha (犬夜叉), a popular fantasy anime and manga series, is recommended to watch if you like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The original manga was published by Weekly Shonen Sunday with 56 volumes totally from 1996 to 2008, which was adapted into an anime. The anime series mainly consists two parts: the first part based on the manga vol.1-36 and the second one (titled Inuyasha: The Final Act) based on the rest of the original manga story.
A 15 years old girl Kagome transported to another world in the past meets the half dog-demon named Inuyasha. In the old period, human beings and yokai (a kind of Japanese demon) fight for the Shikon Jewel that grants the owner’s wish. Kagome and Inuyasya with their party travel to complete the shattered Shikon Jewel.
Both Inuyasha and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has the similar setting; the conflict between humans and demons while Inuyasha seems a neutral presence.
3. Fire Force
The dark-fantasy anime Fire Force (炎炎ノ消防隊) is based on the ongoing popular manga published on Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2015. The first season of an anime adaption was released in 2019 and the second season in 2020.
Fire Force with the unique anime theme focuses on a fire-fighting force. A 17-year-old guy Shinra Kusakabe joins the Special Fire Force Company 8, who has the tough past: he lost his mother and young brother in a fire. As a menber of the Special Fire Force Company 8, he fights flaming monsters called Infernals that a human is turned into due to the Spontaneous Human Combustion.
Shinra Kusakabe and other Special Fire Force Company 8 members battle Infelnals for the peace of human society as Tanjiro fights demons as a demon slayer. The both anime also include comedy scenes which the fans can enjoy each character’s personality deeper.
4. Attack on Titan
Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人) is one of the most popular modern manga and anime series. The manga started to be published from 2009, and the first anime adaption was released in 2013. The anime series consists of the 5 seasons (the final season to be released once the original manga is completed).
The symbol of the dark-fantasy anime is titans that make humanity stand on the edge of extinction. The main characters Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman with the other Survey Corps members battle against the titans investigating why the titans exist in the world.
You can enjoy watching the moving human drama and the powerful battle scenes in both Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
5. Kingdom
Kingdom (キングダム) is one of the most popular manga and anime series in Japan at the same time as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The manga of Kingdom has been serialized on Weekly Young Jump since 2006, and there are 3 anime adaptions series so far (as of 2020).
The story of Kingdom is based on the Chinese history in the the Warring States period around the third century B.C. It focuses on Qin Shi Huang (called Ying Zheng), the king of Qin, unifying China. The story also follows an an orphan boy named Li Xin who grows up as a soldier to become the greatest general in the world.
Both immature soldiers Xin and Tanjiro learn a lot though the tough battles and develop their fighting abilities. The setting of Kingdom is different from that of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, however, you will find common ground with those anime.
