Flower Fantasy-the Garden of Illuminated Flowers at Ashikaga Flower Park
Ashikaga Flower Park (あしかがフラワーパーク) is a popular flower park in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture and best known for the Great Wisteria Festival featuring the gorgeous wisteria which blooms in spring. The astonishing scenery of wisteria fascinates millions of visitors from all around the world during the season.
Although winter is off-season for flowers, Ashikaga Flower Park is also recommended place to visit during winter. The stunning winter illumination event, Flower Fantasy-the Garden of Illuminated Flowers is held at the park annually during winter, and it’s considered as one of the three greatest winter illuminations in Japan along with Sapporo White Illumination in Hokkaido and Huis Ten Bosch: the Kingdom of Lights in Nagasaki.
The Ashikaga Flower Park Illumination “Flower Fantasy-the Garden of Illuminated Flowers 2024-2025” will be held from 18 October 2024 to 16 February 2025. The illumination features over 5 million colourful LED lights at the vast park of 100,000 square meters with the concept of the lights and flowers.
At the famous wisteria garden, the lights inspired by wisteria flowers will be displayed and tell the story of the flower from the beginning of blooming to falling petals. There are various kinds of colourful illuminations at the park with the images of various seasonal flower gardens such as lotus and rose as well as fairy-like objects such as a castle and rainbow.
Limited-time illuminations are also displayed with three different themes: Lights & Amethyst Sage (18 October to mid November), Christmas Fantasy (late November to late December) and Light & Winter Peony Blooming Show (1 January to 16 February).
Numbers of illumination events will be held in Tokyo, but if you want see something more spectacular and bigger-scaled, you should definitely take a day-trip from Tokyo to see this wonderful illumination at Ashikaga Flower Park! Enjoy the magical collaboration of lights and flowers 🙂
