Pokémon Worlds Celebration Events in Yokohama

The Pokémon World Championships 2023 will be held in the Minato Mirai district of Yokohama from August 8 (Tuesday) to 14 (Monday), 2023!

The parade of dozens of Pikachu through the streets of Yokohama has become a classic and one of the most anticipated activities for fans of the popular character. In summer 2023 the event level up with many more activities that all Pokémon fan will love!

The official world tournament for the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and Pokémon card game, Pokémon World Championships 2023, will begin on August 11, 2023 at Pacifico Yokohama. In commemoration of this event, various events will be held in the Minato Mirai area, including a summer festival, shows and parades and an even a Pokémon trainers cruise!

The matsuri (Japanese word for festival) are the essence of Japanese summer. The Pokemon Summer Festival will be held at Rinko Park in Yokohama, combining a uniquely Japanese style summer festival with Pokémon characters and objects, as a giant Poké Ball. Visitors can enjoy many fun festival stalls (yatai in Japanese) with a Pokémon theme, as “Magikarp Fishing” and “Poké Ball Throw”.

In addition, you can immerse yourself in Japanese tradition and culture dancing the festive Bon Odori Dance around a stage with decoration from the Pokémon series and Japanese taiko drum performances!

One of the most awaited parts of the event, Pokémon Fantastic Live Show will offer different shows and a parades featuring Pokémon at various locations in Yokohama Minato Mirai area! The shows will be held at four venues, Rinko Park, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, Grand Mall Park and Keyaki-dori Avenue, each with a different concept.

The show includes two luminescent night show with splash effects and projection mapping and two special Pokémon dance parades where you can see tens of Pikachu and even Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly and maybe even some rare Pokémon!

Special Orchestra Concert

The orchestra concert in collaboration with the NHK Symphony Orchestra to be held on August 10th at Pacifico Yokohama is another must-see event. The full orchestra will perform rich and dynamic sounds of classical masterpieces associated with the sites of past “Pokémon World Championships” and a variety of music from the series covering the first to the latest titles.

In addition, various Pokémon-related events will be held, including a Pokémon Trainers Cruise in a luxury cruisers and street art and decorations featuring Pokémon that appear in various areas of Yokohama.

Please note that Ssome of the events will be held by advance lottery, and reservations can be made by lottery on the official event website from June 19 (Mon.) to July 3 (Mon.).
