Japanese anime have become much more popular than ever before all over the world lately, and many of the modern anime are based on popular manga series. That is to say, manga are situated at the cutting edge of Japanese pop culture. In the first Next Manga Awards in 2014-2015, My Hero Academia won the award while it just started its serialization in the previous year.

What is Next Manga Awards?

Next Manga Awards, an annual Japanese manga award, was founded by the large Japanese publishing company Kadokawa’s major service brands Da Vinci and Niconico in 2014. It focuses on less-known but up-and-coming manga instead of famous and popular series. Every year, thousands of fresh manga are entered for the award and winners are determined by fan votes, divided into the two categories Print Manga Category and Web Manga Category.

Voting period: June 24 to July 11, 2022

Winners announcement: August 31, 2022
