MORIMOTO KYOTO: New Japanese Restaurant in Kyoto by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto

“Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto is a famous Japanese chef who became famous on the popular TV cooking show Iron Chef both in Japan and USA. He is also known for his unique and innovative style of presenting food with a fusion of Japanese and Western ingredients and his culinary technique. Morimoto has opened 17 restaurants across the world so far including his first restaurant in Philadelphia followed by restaurants in New York, Napa, Boca Raton, Mumbai, Mexico City, Tokyo and Maui. And Morimoto has opened his second restaurant in Japan, “Morimoto Kyoto” on Pontocho Alley in Kyoto in 2019 autumn.

Morimoto Kyoto is his very first restaurant in Kyoto City, and the original menu features signature dishes of Iron Chef Morimoto with inspiration of Kyoto. Elevated Japanese dishes including Sushi and Wagyu will take guests on the distinctive flavor exploration that Chef Morimoto has become known for across the globe. Along with food, the restaurant offers a fine selection of premium beverages from around the world including California wine, Japanese Sake and whiskey.
To enhance the level of hospitality, the restaurant team is formed with fluent English speakers so they are able to provide a welcoming and friendly experience for international travellers visiting Kyoto. The visitors can experience the the high quality service which Kyoto is known for without the concern of language barrier.
Morimoto Kyoto is located on Pontocho Alley, the historic and picturesque street lined with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops in preserved Kyoto style old buildings in the heart of the city. It’s one of the most attractive neighbourhoods in Kyoto along the west side of iconic Kamogawa River. The restaurants is a two-story traditional Kyoto style Machiya house along the river with the spacious wooden terrace which can be extended towards the river and transform to “Kawayuka”, the traditional riverside outdoor seating in summer in Kyoto. There are 50 seats in total, the first floor consists of counter seats and a bar, and the second floor with the main dining room with 30 seats offering the beautiful view of Kamogawa River.
