Halloween has become one of the biggest seasonal events in Japan over the past years, and the large number of celebrations and events has been taking place across the country during autumn.
Halloween celebrations typically starts in Japan after summer, and there are a wide variety of events coming up during the season, such as special events at theme parks, Halloween themed food and street celebration.

Tokyo Disney Resort
Two theme parks at Tokyo Disney Resort, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea both hold a Halloween event “Disney Halloween” every year, featuring limited-time entertainments.
The main highlight at Disneyland is a special parade, featuring Disney characters dressed in Halloween costumes. At DisneySea, a Halloween themed greeting show will be available. In addition, the parks will have special Halloween decorations as well as fireworks launched every night, synchronized with Halloween music. Beside the special entertainments, shops and restaurants at the parks also offers limited-time Halloween items and food menus.
During the event period, visitors are allowed to enter the parks dressed in Disney character costumes. To fully immerse yourself in the world of Disney, be sure to visit there in your favourite Disney character costume!

Universal Studios Japan
Universal Studios Japan hosts seasonal events throughout the year, but their park-wide Halloween event is arguably the most exciting and impressive one. The park offers a range of Halloween theme attractions and shows from kids-friendly parties with characters to thrilling horror experiences.
The daytime event includes POKÉMON JUMPIN’ HALLOWEEN PARTY, the fun and groovy party hosted by DJ Pikachu and other Pokemon characters. The park’s infamous Street Zombie features numerous zombies roaming around the park after night falls.
In addition, there will be a wide range of Halloween themed merchandise and food menus only available this time of the year. Don’t miss a chance to enjoy the limited theme attractions at the world’s famous theme park, only this time of the year!

Sanrio Puroland
One of the largest and most popular indoor amusement parks in Japan, Sanrio Puroland hosts a Halloween event “PURO HALLOWEEN” every autumn.
The park’s Halloween event features special show, parade and greeting with popular Sanrio characters dressed in unique Halloween costumes, including Hello Kitty, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin. There are also an interactive attraction and photo spots, offering visitors a fully immersive experience in the world of Sanrio. When visiting the park, don’t miss the Halloween themed food menu and merchandise, only available for a limited time.
Halloween is often considered as a celebration of horror, but if you are looking for a kids-friendly Halloween event, or fantasy themed Halloween experience, Sanrio Puroland is highly recommended.

Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival
In modern days, Halloween became more like a cosplay event, regardless of their original cultural background, and people take the opportunity to dress up in unique outfits or disguised as a character to make their daily life extraordinary, just for a day. Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival could be a symbol for the modern Halloween culture, which is celebrated by a crowds of cosplay otaku.
Attended by over 20,000 cosplayers in previous years, the festival takes place around Ikebukuro Station, and features various events including stage performances, parades and family-friendly contents.
If you want to experience something very unique and peculiar to Japan, you should definitely attend the Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival, where you can meet Japanese otaku culture through cosplay while celebrating Halloween.

Huis Ten Bosch
A Dutch themed amusement park in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Huie Ten Bosch hosts various seasonal events through the year, transforming the entire park with special themes with decorations and seasonal blossoms.
In autumn, the park hold the Halloween Festival, offering a range of Halloween themed attractions that can be enjoyed at the picturesque European themed town both day and night.
At daytime, there are cute and family-friendly Halloween attractions such as a special parade featuring Miffy and Melanie, and greeting show of Ghost Miffy. As night falls, the park offers an immersive horror experience with the Haunted Halloween, as well as spectacular night show, special light-up and the fireworks launched at some days during the event period.
Around the Halloween season, about 1,000 varieties of autumn roses can be also enjoyed at the park, mainly at Art Garden and along the canal, and they will be lit up by the illumination at night magically.

LEGOLAND Japan
LEGOLAND Japan, one of the most visited themed parks in Japan, holds a Halloween event “Brick or Treat”, offering a variety of Halloween experiences unique to LEDOLAND.
The main venue for the event boasts about 2,400 sqm, packed with Halloween contents including giant Jack-o-lantern LEGO block objects, the Candy Station with a pool filled with treats, a spooky show featuring Franken Stein and his friends. In addition, the Mini Figure Trading, which you can exchange your own mini figure with LEGOLAND staff, are available with limited-time Halloween design.
