Ginza Oborozuki: Tsukemen Style Ramen Restaurant in Ginza

Tokyo’s most lavish shopping district, Ginza is a perfect area to explore Tokyo’s food culture. The area is home to countless restaurants, cafes and bars ranging from Michelin starred fine dining to affordable eateries. Ginza is also known as a competitive district among ramen shops so if you are a ramen lover, it’s a must-visit area.

Ginza Oborozuki (銀座 朧月) is one of the most popular ramen shops in Ginza and Yurakucho area, serving tsukemen style ramen. Tsukemen is a type of ramen which noodles and soup are served separately and enjoyed by dipping the noodles into the soup. It’s usually served with thick noodles and rich soup.

Oborozuki’s special tsukemen is served with the super rich double soup, which is made with a blend of animal-base ingredients such as long-simmered bones of pork and chicken and seafood-based ingredients such as dried mackerel and bonito. It has a perfect balance of acidity, sweetness, richness and sharpness. The flavoured oil adds an extra aroma and the soup goes well with the very think noodles.

Tokusei Tsukemen (special tsukemen) is a recommended dish which is served with ajitama (soft boiled egg marinated in sauce) and homemade char siu pork braised just before serving. Extra toppings can be ordered with extra charge.

Besides tsukemen, Chuka Soba, regular soup ramen is also on the menu, which is served with flat, frizzy noodles and soup made with dried sardines. Or treat yourself with Cha siu men, served with a generous amount of sliced pork.
