Universal Studios Japan (USJ) in Osaka offers a large number of world-class attractions and entertainments with themes of popular films and characters, such as Spider-Man, Harry Potter, Minions (Despicable Me), Jurassic Park, JAWS, Super Mario and Sesame Street. It’s a top tourist attraction in Western Japan and one of the most visited theme parks in the country along with Tokyo Disney Resort.
The park hosts seasonal events through the year such as Halloween and Christmas, which guests can experience special contents along with the regular attractions. One of the most popular events is the countdown event held from the night of New Year’s Eve to the New Year’s Day.

-NO LIMIT! Countdown 2025
In 2024–2025, Universal Studios Japan will host a countdown event “NO LIMIT! Countdown 2025”, kicking off the night of Tuesday, 31 December 2024.
The event will celebrate the New Year with various special programs such as stage performances and fireworks. The countdown special stage will be performed at Gramercy Park, featuring the park’s most popular seasonal entertainments from this year such as Kuromi Live, One Piece Premier Show and Halloween Night Show, joined by park’s popular characters including Sesame Street, Snoopy, Hello Kitty and Minions.
At the countdown moment, approx 4,000 coloruful fireworks will be launched in the sky and cover the entire park will gorgeous lights with special effects of lighting and music. What better way to end the year and welcome in the new one!
The countdown event at Universal Studios Japan will kick off at 7 pm on the New Year’s Eve and the park will be open till 9pm next day, which means that the attractions and facilities can be enjoyed up to 26 hours! Enjoy park’s hottest attractions as much as you like, including Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge Ride in Super Nintendo World, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the limited-time attraction Demon Slayer: Kimetsuno Yaiba XR Ride.
Welcome the new year in high spirits with a series of stimulating experiences on the unlimited rides attractions at Universal Studios Japan! Only limited number of tickets will be sold for this event, and they tend to sell out pretty quickly every year, so if you wanna have a very special moment for countdown in Japan, be sure to book the tickets in advance!
