The new symbol of Tokyo, Tokyo Skytree is one of the must-visit sightseeing spots among tourists. In winter 2023, the illumination of Tokyo Skytree Town will be renewed to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its opening!
Tokyo Skytree is famous for being the tallest building in Japan, located in Sumida near to Asakusa, the popular neighborhood. Tokyo Skytree Town will hold Tokyo Skytree Town Dream Christmas 2023, a winter illumination event for Christmas, from November 1 (Wed) to December 25 (Mon), 2023.
During the event the entire TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN will be illuminated with 460,000 sparkling lights! The Christmas atmosphere will flood the place with Christmas decorations, including an 8-meter high Christmas tree covered with wintery snow and the twinkle three stars, a 4-meter objet d’art with the motif of official character Sorakara-chan and others. In addition, a projection mapping will start on December 15 (Fri)
Moreover, various events will be held, as the annual Soraka-chan’s exciting music and light stage, a special lighting on the Tokyo Skytree, a Christmas live performance at the observatory, and the annual a cappella performance, and more!
The European-style Christmas Market, which returns in 2022 for the first time in three years, will be held again this year. Visitors can enjoy gourmet food, beer, sweets and miscellaneous Christmas goods in an space decorated with Santa and reindeer monuments imported from Germany.
Besides the observation deck, Tokyo Skytree has many facilities such as restaurants, shops, special cafes like the popular Kirby Cafe, etc. It’s located within a short walk from Asakusa district, one of the most touristic areas in Tokyo where you can still feel the traditional and ancient Japan, visit the impressive temple Senso-ji or take a boat ride on the Sumida river.
Among the large number of Christmas illuminations that take place in Tokyo during winter, Tokyo Skytree Town Dream Christmas Illumination is especially recommended for those with children 🙂
