Mister Donut (ミスタードーナツ), or Misdo is a popular franchised donuts store in Japan that in addition to offering delicious and affordable donuts year-round, it also launches special limited-time collections. One of the most popular is the sakura collection for the cherry blossom season, or the special extra chocolate collection for Valentine’s Day. But undoubtedly, Mister Donuts’ top selling limited-time collection since its first launch is one in the collaboration with Gion Tsujiri.
Gion Tsujiri (宇治茶専門店) is a renowned tea brand originating from Kyoto, Japan, known for its premium matcha green tea. Established in 1860, it has a long history of providing high-quality tea products, including matcha powder, traditional tea sets and matcha-infused sweets. Recognized as a leading supplier of matcha, Gion Tsujiri is highly respected both in Japan and internationally for its traditional tea offerings and the brand’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Beginning March 27, 2024 (Wednesday), Mister Donut will launch its first limited-time collaboration with Uji tea specialist Gion Tsujiri, titled Misdo Meets Gion Tsujiri – 1st Edition, showcasing innovative and flavorful creations that highlight the best of Japanese tea and pastry culture. It will be available exclusively at all Mister Donut stores nationwide.

Collaboration of Mister Donut and Gion Tsujiri 2024- 1st Edition
Continuing their annual collaboration, Misdo Meets Gion Tsujiri unveils its first edition for 2024, featuring a total of five delightful treats, including donuts crafted with a novel dough.
Of particular note is the ‘Dark Donut,’ boasting the highest matcha content ever seen in Mister Donut’s history. Created with Gion Tsujiri’s Uji matcha, the dough offers a moist texture and a rich matcha flavor.
The Dark Donut comes in two delectable variations. The Thick Matcha Cream edition features smooth matcha cream squeezed between dough layers, coated with matcha chocolate. Meanwhile, the Dark Donut Fluffy Matcha Whipped version sandwiches red bean paste and fluffy matcha whip, garnished with candied chestnuts.
And don’t miss out on the array of matcha-filled Pon de Rings!
The beloved Pon de Ring series, an annual collaboration favorite, now comes in three varieties featuring a new matcha-infused dough. The “Pon de Double Uji Matcha” is coated with matcha chocolate on the surface, delivering an intense matcha experience. Additionally, the “Pon de Uji Matcha with Crunchy Rice Crackers” incorporates crispy rice crackers for a delightful texture and flavor contrast.
Not to be missed is the the “Pon de Uji Matcha with Warabi Mochi and Japanese Brown Sugar,” combining smooth warabi mochi and flavorful matcha whip sandwiched between Pon de Rings
