Fall is one of the most popular seasons for Starbucks Japan after spring. In recent years Starbucks Japan has become famous for its many special time-limited drinks that change every few months. All over the world Starbucks has special drinks depending on the season, but Japanese customers are very demanding and get tired easily, so many companies launch new products every few months. The case of Starbucks Japan is one of the most notorious, as they never repeat a drink from one year to the next.
With the arrival of cold weather and the onset of autumn, the season of sweet potatoes, the favorite of many, is inaugurated in Japan. Supermarkets are filled with sweet potato-flavored sweets and snacks. Starbucks Japan has introduced the Osatsu Butter Frappuccino, which will be available in Starbucks shops nationwide starting Friday, September 1, 2023. Osatsu is an abbreviation for satsumaimo, that means Sweet Potato in Japanese.
Starbucks’ new Osatsu Butter Frappuccino is a Frappuccino inspired by a baked sweet potato infused with butter and honey. It’s the first drink to be released that allows you to enjoy the marriage of the gentle sweetness of sweet potatoes and sweet honey butter.
The base of the Frappuccino is a salty, buttery baked sweet potato while the bottom of the cup is filled with a salty sweet potato kenpi, a thin strips of sweetened and crunchy sweet potato like sweet potato chips, to add a crunchy texture. Topped with a whipped cream with a drizzle of sweet honey butter sauce and a salty sweet potato paste. The result is a delicious autumnal flavor that evokes the flavour of the baked sweet potato and butter.
