Rainbow Flower Festival at Fuji Motosuko Resort 2024

Flower Festival held at the foot of Mt Fuji

Fuji Motosuko Resort (富士本栖湖リゾート) is located about 4 km away from Lake Motosu, one of Fuji Five Lakes (Fujigoko in Japanese) comprising Yamanaka, Kawaguchi, Sai, Shoji and Motosu lakes that are situated at the base of Mt Fuji.

The place is best known for Fuji Shibazakura Festival, one of the most popular flower events in Japan during spring, featuring approx 500,000 pink moss covering the vast fields and displaying an astonishing scenery against the backdrop of Mt Fuji.

Over the past few years, the venue has been hosting a flower event “Rainbow Flower Festival” in late summer, featuring approx 80,000 colourful flowers with the highlight of the collaboration between the flowers and Mt Fuji.

With this year’s theme “feel the autumn a little early”, 15 variety of flowers will decorate the foot of Mt Fuji, including zinnias in a variety of colors such as yellow, red, pink, and orange, and black-eyed Susan, which has a beautiful bright yellow color like a miniature sunflower.

Popular photo spots from the Fuji Shibazakura Festival, such as the Pop-up Picture Book World and the Small Boat Traveling in a Rainbow Sea, will also be available, allowing you to take great photos with the stunning view of Mt Fuji.

A range of one-handed snacks and desserts will be sold at the venue, which are perfect for strolling around the flower fields, including shaved ice made with Yamanashi Prefecture’s Shine Muscat grapes, Mt Fuji Lava Fried Chicken, and soft serve topped with Shingen Mochi.

In addition, at the Peter Rabbit™ English Garden area, you can enjoy the seasonal scenery of about 300 types of plants and flowers, including the wild deutzia (a type of hydrangea) from Yamanashi Prefecture, whose flower spikes resemble the shape of Mt Fuji, as well as the grasses that become more radiant in autumn.

The venue, Fuji Motosuko Resort, is located at an altitude of about 1,000m. The average temperature is about 5°C lower than in the city center, making it a cool resort away from the city, where the scorching heat lingers.

Join the Rainbow Flower Festival, a beautiful collaboration between Mt Fuji and colourful flowers while feeling the early arrival of autumn in the cool foothill of Mt Fuji! The event will be held for 45 days starting from 31 August.
