Tokyo Midtown: Shop, eat and stay at Tokyo’s biggest complex building!
Tokyo Midtown (東京ミッドタウン) is a 569,000-square-meter (6.1 million sq ft) mixed-use development in Roppongi area, Tokyo which was completed in 2007. It was built with a similar concept of “city within a city” like Roppongi Hills, and the entire complex consists of many different purpose used facilities, such as office, residence, shops, restaurants/cafes/bars, museum (one of the museums of the “Art Triangle Roppongi”, Suntory Museum of Art), luxury hotel (The Ritz Carlton Tokyo) and more. You can easily spend a whole day at this complex building, and it’s especially recommended to visit on a rainy day.
Although Tokyo Midtown is located in a heart of Tokyo city, it includes lots of green spaces, the “Midtown garden” and the traditional Japanese garden “Hinokicho park”. Over 100 cherry blossom trees are planted in the park and it’s one of the most popular cherry blossom viewing spots in Tokyo. At night, the trees are lighten-up with illumination, and cherry blossoms can be viewed from the restaurants along the streets.
Tokyo Midtown is also a popular spot during winter as one of the most popular winter illumination events is held. The Tokyo Midtown Illumination offers a spectacular light-up show which can be seen every day from November to Christmas during winter. Moreover, numbers of special events are held at Tokyo Midtown through the year.
