Best Places to See Cherry Blossoms in Tokyo: Shinjuku Gyoen Garden
Shinjuku Gyoen (新宿御苑) is a national garden located in Shinjuku area. It’s one of the best hanami(cherry blossom viewing) spots in Tokyo. The vast garden has a large space with 58.3 hectares, and about 1,000 cherry trees in various kinds can be enjoyed including early and late blooming cherry blossoms. If you miss the main season of cherry blossoms in Tokyo, Shinjuku Gyoen is the best place to catch cherry blossoms in town.
Shinjuku Gyoen offers a peaceful atmosphere even though it’s located in the heart of the city center. Many people visit here during the cherry blossom season and enjoy relaxing, walking around the park and having a picnic (alcoholic beverage is prohibit) with the spectacular view of cherry blossoms. The garden is usually closed on Monday, but it will be open everyday during cherry blossom season.
Shinjuku Gyoen is located in center of Tokyo, you can easily access on foot from JR Shinjuku Station within 10 minutes. Shinjuku is one of the most popular areas in Tokyo among tourists where numbers of attractions are offered. There are a lot of options for dining, entertaining and shopping before/after seeing the beautiful cherry blossoms at the garden 🙂

Admission Fee: Adult 500 yen, Elementary and Junior High School student 250 yen
Best time to visit: late March to early April
