The popular Japanese dark fantasy manga Jujutsu Kaisen (呪術廻戦), written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, has sold over 80 million copies since it began serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018, being one of the top selling manga series of all time.
The Jujutsu Kaisen anime was brought to screens by MAPPA from October 2020 to March 2021 featuring 24 episodes. In December 2021, the animated film Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie hit theaters and quickly rose to become Japan’s second highest-grossing film of the year. Its global appeal was evident as it ranked as the sixth highest-earning anime film worldwide, alongside hits like Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, Your Name and three beloved Ghibli films.
In July 2023 the long-awaited second season made its debut, and to celebrate, a themed café has been opened for a limited time. The Jujutsu Kaisen Cafe 2023 Kaigyoku and Gyokusetsu (meaning “Hidden Talent and Premature Death” in Japanese) it was a complete success, as the Jujutsu Kaisen Cafe 2023 Shibuya Incident opened afterward, inspired by the movie. With the second season still ongoing, a second edition of the café has been announced, much to the delight of fans!
The Jujutsu Kaisen Cafe 2nd Season Kaigyoku and Gyokusetsu have a casual and summerly vibe, featuring illustrations exclusively drawn for the cafe in warm tones of blue and yellow. With a lineup of exciting menu items inspired by characters like Gojo Satoru and Fushiguro Megumi, including chicken waffles and soba galette representing their unique abilities, a bolognese pasta depicting intense Jujutsu battles and summery cold drinks, this café it’s a great spot for fans to enjoy a variety of tasty options.
The Jujutsu Kaisen themed cafe will open in Summer 2024 for a limited time, in 3 cities, Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. In addition to the food menu, there will be a wide range of original merchandise and some special gifts for visitors, featuring the illustration by MAPPA as well as the cafe-limited illustration. -Customers who make pre-booking (660 yen per person) and order from the menu will receive one of art panels randomly chosen from 5 designs.
