The famous luxury hotel Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo opened SKY PLAZA IBASHO in March of this year. Located on the 47th floor of the main building, 170 meters above ground, this new space offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Shinjuku area. Designed under the concept of “a place where you can spend time in your own style, in your own way”, the SKY PLAZA IBASHO creates an inviting and relaxing environment.
Originally launched in 1971 as Japan’s first super-tall hotel, the 47th floor quickly became a beloved observation deck, drawing over one million visitors within just six months with its spectacular vistas. In July 2023, the Keio Plaza Hotel embarked on a major renovation of the 47th floor of its main building, culminating in the grand opening of SKY PLAZA IBASHO on March 15, 2024. This recent renovation reimagines this iconic space, inviting guests to rediscover the evolving charm of Shinjuku.
SKY PLAZA IBASHO
Covering around 1,100 square meters, SKY PLAZA IBASHO features lush greenery and soothing earth tones and is divided into six unique zones, offering a versatile space where hotel guests and visitors can enjoy the space in their way.
In the Lounge, you can indulge yourself in delicious coffee flavors with the “We Proudly Serve Starbucks® Coffee Program”, featuring coffee brewed using Starbucks coffee beans, including lattes and cappuccinos. For those who are not a coffee lover, you can enjoy complimentary soft drinks. In the evenings, a bar counter serves a range of beers and cocktails.
For those who need to work (even during their holidays), the Library zone includes power outlets and USB ports. Visitors or locals, you can have a unique experience working from the 47th floor, with incredible views of Shinjuku city and unlimited coffee and soft drinks!
But since not everything is work, the Library zone also includes a detailed graphic map of Tokyo with a focus on Shinjuku, providing the latest local insights and recommendations from hotel staff and fellow visitors, offering a richer perspective on Tokyo beyond traditional guides. So you can explore the area after finish your work.
Additional zones include the Park, with hammocks and electric fireplaces creating a relaxed outdoor atmosphere.
Or the Multi-Purpose zone, where you can book private rooms for online meetings or karaoke sessions.
Last but not least, the Garden offers a shoe-free relaxation area.
The Hall zone will host various events and activities, including indoor play equipment for children, so you can make the most of Tokyo even without going out.
Sustainability is a priority, and the six zones within SKY PLAZA IBASHO emphasize eco-friendly design, featuring elements like recycled cork chairs and artwork from Heralbone, an organization that partners with artists with intellectual disabilities under the initiative “Unleash Your Unique Light”.
Whether you’re visiting Tokyo or are a resident, the SKY PLAZA IBASHO is the perfect spot to spend a few hours relaxing, especially during the hot summer months.

I started to like Japan because of the anime, music and doramas, but after my first trip to the country I found what I love the most: traveling around, the culture and history. I have travelled a lot in Japan, but I still have many places to discover that I want to share with you🙋🏼♀️ Let’s discover Japan together!
Also, as a foreigner living in Japan for over 6 years I understand what kind of things are difficult when you move here and I want to help other people in the same situation that I have in the past.
