Shinjuku Restaurant Guide-vol.2: ICHIRAN RAMEN
ICHIRAN Ramen (一蘭) is the most famous and popular Ramen store in Japan, serving the classic Tonkotsu ramen (rich creamy soup made from pork broth) from Fukuoka Prefecture. Today, there are over 70 Ichiran stores across the country and abroad.
Ichiran offers only one type of tonkotsu ramen; a rich and milky textured pork based broth with smooth-thin noodles and topped with sliced pork, green onion, and spicy red sauce which create a perfect balance of the taste.
One significant thing about Ichiran is their order sheet that guests can custom their own bowl of Ramen by choosing 7 preferences such as hardness of noodles, richness of the soup and spiciness. Also Ichiran offers an unique seating system with booths which are divided individually for guests so that they enjoy their Ramen dishes without any distractions.
Their Shinjuku store is extremely accessible as it’s located only 3 mins walk from Shinjuku Station East Exit, and moreover the store is open for 24 hours!
