Meguro River is a very popular spot for cherry blossom viewing in spring, and the splendid “Sakura” scenery can be also enjoyed during winter! The Meguro River winter illumination will be held from 8 November 2019 to 5 January 2020.
“Megurogawa Minna no Illuminantion” is a popular winter illumination event held along the Meguro River in Tokyo. The famous cherry trees that flourish during the cherry blossom season, are decorated with over 400,000 pink LED lights and display beautiful scenery as if cherry blossoms are blooming after dark. The view stretches for about 2.2 km between Gotanda and Osaki Stations.
The LED lights used for Megurogawa Minna no Illumination is 100% environment friendly that are recycled from waste edible oil from local residents and restaurants.
The event kicks off on 8th November 2019, and an opening ceremony and special events will be also held on that day. There will be also three outdoor domes “Garden Igloo” where visitors can get inside and enjoy watching the winter cherry blossoms comfortably in a cold weather. There are numbers of winter illumination events in Tokyo, but this is only place offering cute winter cherry blossoms! Have a romantic walk by the river and enjoy the cherry blossom viewing!
