Meguro River is a very popular spot for cherry blossom viewing in spring, and the splendid “Sakura” scenery can be also enjoyed during winter! The Meguro River winter illumination is annually held from early November to early January.

“Megurogawa Minna no Illuminantion” is a popular winter illumination event held along the Meguro River in Tokyo. The famous cherry trees that flourish during the cherry blossom season are decorated with approx 350,000 pink LED lights and display beautiful scenery during winter as if cherry blossoms are blooming after dark. The illumination stretches for about 2.2 km between Gotanda and Osaki Stations.

The LED lights used for Megurogawa Minna no Illumination is environment friendly, which are recycled from waste edible oil from local residents and restaurants and 100% private power generation.

 There are numbers of winter illumination events in Tokyo, but this is only place offering cute winter cherry blossoms! Have a romantic walk by the river and enjoy the cherry blossom viewing!
