Toyama is one of the prefectures in the north of Central Japan which is called Hokuriku Area. It has much easier to access from Tokyo to Toyama since Hokuriku Shinkansen was opened to traffic in 2015. On Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route connecting the two prefectures Toyama and Nagano, you can enjoy the high snow walls formed by accumulated snow and one of the deepest gorges in Japan Kurobe Gorge. There are Gokayama Villages which consist of Japanese traditional houses with Gassho-Zukuri style, which are adjacent to Shirakawago in Gifu Prefecture.
