Moving is probably one of the most stressful yet fun activities that you can have in life. Whether it is your first time or your 10th time, moving will always be a big deal.

Apartment Rent Market Value in Tokyo

As you can see in the chart below, there’s a considerable difference between the average rent cost of Tokyo in its totality and the average rent cost of the 23 wards which constitute the central area of Tokyo.

The Tokyo average is already the highest among all prefectures in Japan, so that will give you an idea of how expensive living in Tokyo, especially central Tokyo, is.

However, as I stated in the introduction paragraph, there are some areas that are relatively cheap even within the 23 wards. Especially, Edogawa city, Katsushika city, and Adachi city are known for being areas that are relatively low-cost.

Also, even in high-averaged cost areas, if you look close enough, you will find some hidden gems of apartments.
