1. Tempura Kondo
Has been known as the best Tempura restaurant in Tokyo, Tempura Kondo (てんぷら近藤) is a long established Tempura restaurant located in Ginza area, serving traditional yet creative dishes. The restaurant has received two Michelin star in 2016. Meet the perfection of Tempura by the 50 years experienced chef Kondo!

2. Tempura Ono
Tempura Ono is a family own tempura restaurant that offers a hight quality tempura selecting only the best ingredients. The second-generation chef at Tempura Ono, the Japanese cuisine expert Koichiro Shimura is one of the world’s top tempura chefs.

3. Uchitsu
The true hidden gem, Ten Tempura Uchitsu (天てんぷら うち津) is a fine Tempura restaurant located Hiroo area (near Ebisu). Uchitsu fascinates guests by their dishes with selected ingredients, and the luxurious interior and excellent service. The restaurant received two Michelin stars in 2014.

4. Tempura Motoyoshi
Small but mighty, Tempura Motoyoshi (天ぷら 元吉) is a Tempura restaurant with a counter table and 9 seats, located in Aoyama area. Motoyoshi received 1 Michelin star and it’s one of the top rated restaurants on Japanese gourmet website Tabelog. Make sure to book in advance!

5. Mikawa Zezankyo
Mikawa Zezankyo (みかわ是山居) is owned by one of the best tempura chefs in Japan, the chef Saotome who has a 60-year experience in cooking tempura and has been living his life for creating the finest tempura dishes. The restaurant received 1 Michelin star and it’s one of the highest scored restaurants on the Tabelog website. The omakase (chef’s choice) meal consists of a series of selected seafood and seasonal vegetable tempura pieces.

6. Fukamachi
Tempura Fukamachi (てんぷら 深町) was founded by the experienced chef Fukamachi, who used to be a head chef at the tempura restaurant in the Hilltop Hotel (Yamanoue Hotel) for 34 years, which is well known for serving VIP and public figures for many years. Now he runs his own restaurant with the support of his two sons. The traditional Edo style Tempura dishes are served at Fukamachi. The formidable skills of the chef includes adjusting the batter according to ingredients and using two pots for frying.

7. Miyashiro
Miyashiro (天婦羅 みやしろ) is a hidden tempura gem in Nakameguro area. The one Michelin star restaurant is set in a 100 year-old house with the secret entrance only accessible to guests, however, inside the restaurant is bright and sophisticated with modern Japanese decor using washi paper. To provide the tempura dishes with the best seasonal ingredients, the menu changes regularly according to the availability of the ingredients. The course consists of about 20 items including 10 tempura dishes, Japanese style appetizer, sashimi, rice, seasonal dishes and desserts. Sake and wine pairings are available to go along with the dishes.
