Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa (マクセル アクアパーク品川) is a popular urban aquarium in Tokyo, which is located near Shinagawa Station. The aquarium is home to about 18,000 sea creatures from 450 different species. The aquarium holds seasonal events throughout the year, featuring themes of each season such as cherry blossoms in spring, fireworks in summer and Christmas in winter
In a collaboration with the creative company NAKED, inc., Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa is hosting an autumn theme event “NAKED MOMIJI AQUARIUM” for the first time from 13 September to 17 November 2024.
The event will feature a variety of contents with the theme of “autumn leaves viewing” throughout the venue, including an astonishing digital art produced by NAKED, INC., which fuses with marine creatures and turns the underwater world red.
First, visitors can feel the coming of autumn at the entrance decorated with red lanterns and autumn leaves art entitled “Story of Dancing Autumn Leaves”. In the central tank, carps of various colours and patterns gracefully swim around to greet visitors, and the surrounding walls project the ever-changing scenery of autumn leaves over a period of about 5 mins as if weaving a story, expressing different scenes, “Autumn Leaves Soaked in Autumn Rain” and “Autumn Leaves Lit up at Night.”
The exhibition space “Autumn Colors Underwater Garden” showcases dynamic visual effects created by 22 projectors as well as the immersive space with 3m tall tree, Japanese painting and a dry landscape garden. There will also be a show where the entire space will be enveloped in a “Swirl of Autumn Leaves” and an interactive device where ripples will spread around visitors’ feet. The space will be set up with a total of 12 aquarium tanks filled with fish in autumnal colors.
The small tank zone “Autumn Flower Gallery” will express an artistic autumn with the colorful fish and seasonal flowers. The mystical jellyfish exhibition zone will be decorated with a full moon, creating a “moon-viewing spot.”
The aquarium’s famous dolphin performance will be also held with the autumn version, showcasing different programs during the day and at night. The daytime version will feature dolphins dancing around, themed on a harvest festival celebrating fruitful autumn while the night version will feature digital technology and projection mapping to present graceful performances surrounded by autumn leaf art and the melodies of Japanese instruments.
At the cafe bar, a limited-time menu will be available with 4 varieties of items satisfy your autumn appetite amid fluttering autumn leaves. The menu will include desserts and drinks inspired by the flavors of autumn, such as Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc, non-alcoholic sangria with a hint of grapes, and tea topped with purple sweet potato cream.
