5 Best Yakiniku in Akihabara

Best Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) in Akihabara

Hello everyone!

Akihabara, being one of the most popular areas in Tokyo for tourists, has a wide variety of choices for you to choose from when it comes to food. Here are the 5 best Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurants I have picked for you to consider when you come to visit the Akihabara area.

1. Yakiniku TRAJI Akihabara (焼肉トラジ 秋葉原店)

At Yakiniku TRAJI Akihabara (焼肉トラジ 秋葉原店), the meat is usually served in thick pieces, making every bite worth it.
The most popular dish is the “Nama-tan shio” which is “salted cow tongue”. If you come to this restaurant, this is a dish you cannot pass out. After it is cooked, you dip the meat in the special lemon-based Sause, which gives it a fresh taste.

The interior has an Asian resort vibe, with a variety of styles of seats; from regular table seats to sunken kotatsu-style seats to spacious private rooms. The private rooms are especially popular for families who want to spend a calm and quiet time. It is also used for parties due to its spaciousness.

2. Tankiyo (たん清)

Now that we talked about cow tongue, it makes a perfect segway for the next restaurant. Tankiyo (たん清) is especially famous for its exquisite tongue dishes. This place is so popular, it is difficult to even make reservations.

This restaurant is especially popular within tongue dish lovers as you can tell by the restaurant’s name (“Tan” means tongue). The high-quality meat is cut in thick sizes and is prepared in a way that the meat is soft and tender. It is soft but still retaining its meaty feel, making every single bite enjoyable.

Non-regular lunch menus are also very popular, especially the tongue stew. But since lunch is a non-regular thing in this restaurant, you are lucky if you get to have it.

3. Yamano (やまの)

Just a 1-minute walk from Akihabara station is the restaurant “Yamano (やまの)”. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building. There’s a Burger King on the first floor, so you won’t have a problem finding it.

Yamano is famous for having great A5-rank Wagyu Beef. No matter what you order here, everything is exquisite. Just as the sign says, this is “the restaurant with delicious meat”. Here, they serve lunch as well. You can choose from the “Yakiniku lunch” and the “Yakiniku on top of a rice bowl” style.

4. Jiromaru Akihabara (治郎丸 秋葉原店)

If you’re looking for a different style of Yakiniku, then Jiromaru Akihabara (治郎丸 秋葉原店) is the restaurant you’re looking for.

What makes this restaurant different from the others is the fact that you eat here standing. It is not suited for large amounts of people since the restaurant isn’t that spacious, but it is perfect if you’re going alone or with someone else. Therefore, this restaurant has become famous for being a place where you can come and eat Yakiniku alone (which is not the usual way to eat Yakiniku). It makes it easy for those who want to eat Yakiniku, but happen to be by themselves at that moment.

The ordering system is interesting. Every single dish is written in wooden plates. You choose and order from those choices. The prices start at an unbelievable 30 yen! Even the most expensive dishes are about 300 yen.

5、Nihon Yakinikuto Asakusabashi East (日本焼肉党 浅草橋東口店)

The first thing people notice from this restaurant is its name, “Nihon Yakinikuto Asakusabashi East (日本焼肉党 浅草橋東口店)”, which translates to “The Japanese Yakiniku Party (as in political party)”. I am personally a heavy user of this restaurant.

The restaurant buys an entire Wagyu Beef Cattle (Yamagata-gyu) and uses every single part usable for eating. This means you can find here literally any part of beef that you wish, and at a reasonable price.

The first time I came here, I was impressed by the wide variety of parts you could order. There were so many parts I haven’t even heard before. So, I was ordering while asking the waiters (Everyone was nice and knowledgeable).

When you order a part, the plate comes with a sign indicating which meat is which part. I thought this was a nice touch because sometimes you order different meat parts, but when the dish comes, you’re not sure which is which… It’s nice that you can know with certainty what exactly you’re eating.
