Winter illuminations are one of the best things to do in Japan during winter, so don’t miss the chance to enjoy watching Japan’s largest winter illumination less than 1 hour from Tokyo!
About Sagamiko Illumillion
Held at Sagamiko Mori Mori in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, SAGAMIKO ILLUMILLION (さがみ湖イルミリオン) is an annual winter illumination event that started in 2008. With 6 million colorful LED lights, SAGAMIKO ILLUMINATION is considered one of Kanto Region’s three most significant winter illuminations, along with Ashikaga Flower Park and Enoshima Jewel of Shonan, and one of the largest-scale winter illuminations in Japan.
Sagamiko Mori Mori is an amusement park where visitor can enjoy their attractions in day time and stay after dark to enjoy the illumination. The park offers a variety of attractions, rides, athletic play field in the forest and day-use Onsen facility. It’s a great place for a day trip from Tokyo and spend a whole day by playing in nature.
SAGAMIKO ILLUMILLION features 40,000 square-meter vast illumination area divided into several zones with different themes and immersive illuminations such as the Rainbow Lift, the 250 m long lift taking guests to a journey over the rainbow of lights, and the Light Ferris Wheel standing at an altitude of 370m. The event is held for about 6 months from mid November to mid May, and the illuminations are lit up after daily after 16:00.
After the success of the Sailor Moon collaboration in 2021-2022, the event collaborated with different anime and character franchises, such as Doraemon and San-X. For the 2025-2026 season, SAGAMIKO ILLUMILLION is celebrating its 17th anniversary by collaborating with Tamagotch. The Tamagotch Illumination will be available from 15 November 2025 to 10 May 2026.
New Highlights: Tamagotchi-Themed Area
The delightful Tamagotchi-themed zone blends nostalgia with dazzling visuals. Expect glowing Tamagotchi eggs and appearances by lovable characters like Mametchi and Kuchipatchi, merging retro digital charm with immersive light artistry.
This year’s special Tamagotchi collaboration also features an exclusive new illustration: residents of Tamagotchi Planet arrive at Sagamiko Illumillion in UFOs, decorating trees and riding the lift, bringing a playful story to life across the park. Guests can enjoy photo spots and illuminations inspired by the artwork, along with limited-time food menus and original merchandise.
Further details will be announced as the event approaches, so stay tuned for updates. Now in its 17th year, Sagamiko Illumillion continues to shine as one of Kanto’s most beloved winter traditions.
