Best Trendy and Stylish Cafes in Akihabara, Tokyo
Hello everyone!
Today, I’d like to share with you my favourite spots in Akihabara. I was born and raised in Akihabara in Tokyo and have been living there for nearly 30 years! Akihabara is full of great attractions such as shopping, entertainments, unique sub-culture, etc. Akihabara might be best known for the Otaku culture and its related spots, however there are also trendy spots which may not be lesser-known among visitors.
When it comes to cafes in Akihabara area, most of you may think of unique themed cafes such as Maid Cafe and Animal Cafe, however, there are many stylish cafes in Akihabara where you can take a moment to relax while being in this busy and crowded district. I’m a resident of Akihabara, and today, I am sharing my selections of the best cafes in Akihabara, Tokyo!
1. Cafe MOCO
Cafe MOCO (カフェ モコ) is located along the Chuo Dori (central street) in Akihabara. The inside of the cafe is wide and spacious, has a retro atmosphere of Showa era. It’s located in the heart of Akihabara district and only a few minutes on foot from JR Akihabara Station. The place offers a relaxing space for guests as they enjoy reading books, chatting with friends or simply be indulged with delicious food and drinks. The food menu at Cafe MOCO is pretty unique and many items are Instagram-Worthy. The most popular dish at the cafe which I definitely recommend you to try is Cheese Hot Dog which is served with plentiful cheese!

2. BLOSSOM & BOUQUET Akihabara UDX Store
BLOSSOM & BOUQUET Akihabara UDX Store (ブロッサム アンド ブーケ 秋葉原UDX店) is offers various kinds of homemade sandwiches with finely selected ingredients as well as coffee and flavour tea. The small and cozy cafe is a perfect spot to stop by if you crave for a small snack and a cup of coffee while shopping in Akihabara.

4. Portal Cafe Akiba
Portal Cafe Akiba (ポータル カフェ アキバ) is located at a such accessible spot, inside the commercial building right in front of JR Akihabara Station’s Central Exit. The inside the cafe is specious, and when I visit there for lunch, the cafe was crowded by foreign tourists. Portal Cafe Akiba is a great option for lunch, dinner and simply drinks as it’s easy to drop by. The french style dishes and desserts are not only tasty but look beautiful and created with attention to details. When it’s a sunny day, I’d recommend you to sit on the terrace seats (it has a roof so you can sit on a rainy day, too!).
