Oshino Hakkai: Springs of Mt. Fuji

The beautiful small village in Fuji Five Lake area.

Oshino Hakkai (忍野八海) is a tourist sight of 8 spring water ponds of Mt.Fuji located in Oshino Village in Yamanashi prefecture. The village is located between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako and it’s a popular tourist destination along Fuji Five Lakes.

The eight ponds are filled by snow melt from the slopes of nearby Mount Fuji which filters down the mountain through lava for over 80 years resulting in very clear spring water which are considered as sacred water.

As well as the ponds with purely transparent spring water, the visitor can enjoy the sight designed as a traditional Japanese village with thatched roof houses with water wheels and beautiful garden with the magnificent view of Mt.Fuji.

The site is also a popular destination for cherry blossom viewing, and usually the best viewing time takes from early to mid April.
