New Harry Potter Shop Harajuku Opening in Summer 2025
New Harry Potter Official Shop to Open in Harajuku, Tokyo in August 2025
Calling all witches, wizards, and muggles! In August 2025, Tokyo will welcome its first flagship Harry Potter Shop Harajuku, just steps from Meiji-jingumae Station on the iconic Omotesando stroll. Occupying roughly 900 m², the store promises a fully immersive shopping adventure steeped in Wizarding World magic.
Step into the Forbidden Forest
Harajuku’s flagship shop is inspired by the Forbidden Forest , a mystical, tree-covered realm from Hogwarts. Inside, fans will walk under towering faux trees, encounter magical creature motifs, and discover enchanting merch displays. The setting captures the lush, untamed spirit of the forest while offering ample photo op moments.
Harajuku is known worldwide for its bold fashion and youth culture and is the perfect stage for this Wizarding World experience. Expect themed zones dedicated to Hogwarts, House pride, and collectibles, all anchored by top-tier customer service. As the brand’s first full-scale Japanese location, it marks a major milestone for both fans and tourists.
Akasaka Gets a New Name Too
Fans in central Tokyo can rejoice as the Harry Potter Maho‑Dokoro Akasaka Wizarding World Street Store will close on 29 June and reopen as Harry Potter Shop Akasaka on 17 July. Managed by Warner Bros. Studio Tour & Retail, it’ll feature refreshed displays and improved merchandise offerings, complementing the new Harajuku store.
Why Visit?
The Akasaka and Harajuku Harry Potter Shops in Japan follow the successful openings of the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo shop (opened in June 2023) and the official Harry Potter Shop Online Japan (launched in July 2024). These stores join a global network of flagship locations, including King’s Cross Station in London, New York, Chicago, and the Warner Bros. Studio Tours in London and Tokyo.
Building on the success of these locations, the new Harajuku and revamped Akasaka stores aim to deliver a fully immersive experience, packed with entertainment and inspiration from the Wizarding World.
Each Harry Potter Shop is designed to bring the magic to life, offering:
- Exclusive merchandise inspired by the films
- Photo spots perfect for fans
- Interactive exhibits
- Cinematic interior designs featuring original film props
The Harry Potter Shop Harajuku brings the Wizarding World to life in authentic, playful fashion right in the heart of Tokyo’s trendiest district. With a simultaneous refresh of the Akasaka store, Japan’s fanbase gets not one, but two premium destinations this summer. If you are a die-hard fan of the Harry Potter series, this is one experience no magical heart should miss. Stay tuned for precise opening info, and get ready to mischief managed your way through Harajuku this August!
