Shizuoka

Shizuoka, located in the south of Central Japan, faces broadly the Pacific Ocean. The symbol of Japan Mt.Fuji straddles the border between Shizuoka and Yamanashi. Shizuoka is also proud of it iconic area Izu, which is one of the most popular beach resorts in Japan and accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area. In the end of winter, Kawazu Sakura, the cherry blossom blooming a little earlier than others, is seen by numerous tourists. There are also renowned onsen towns in the prefecture including Atami and Ito.
