Shiga
Shiga is not well-known to travelers, but the Japan’s largest Lake Biwa is located in Shiga. Lake Biwa occupies over one sixth of the area of Shiga and it used to be the major water source in Kansai Region of Japan. On the east side of the lake there is Hikone Castle which is the landmark of the prefecture. Hikone Castle, built in the beginning of the 17th century, is preserved completely flawless and stands beautifully at the center of the city. At the MIHO museum in Shiga, you will be able to enjoy numerous artworks created, based on cherry blossoms that symbolize the spring in Japan. Also, there are many Japanese historical temples and shrines where you can deeply feel Japanese tradition.
