Sumikkogurashi (すみっコぐらし) is a set of cute fictional characters produces by the Japanese company San-X. In Japan, cute characters like Sanrio’s Hello Kitty are very popular. San-X is the other big company, and its star character is Rilakkuma, which is shaped like a bear. In the case of Sumikkogurashi we say that it is a set of characters, because they are not one but many! Although the main ones are about 5 (out of a total of 21).
To celebrate its 10th anniversary this summer 2022 a special cafe will be held in Tokyo and Osaka for a limited time. The cafe will offer adorable and Insta-worthy food and drinks inspired in some of the most popular characters from Sumikkogurashi. The food menu includes savory dishes, such as hamburgers or pasta, and sweet dishes, such as pancakes or parfait. But not only that. They cafe will also offer limited-time variety of merchandising such as acrylic magnet and key chain, pouch, mini glass, marshmallow and more!
The Sumikkogurashi Cafe will first open from July 1 to September 9 in Tokyo, followed by Osaka from July 22 to August 28. If you like cute characters and trendy cafes, and are you in Tokyo or Osaka you can enjoy the tasty but adorable food and take a lot of Insta-pictures!
