Noboribetsu (登別) is located in south-western Hokkaido and famous for its hot spring resource. It’s part of Shikotsu-Toya National park and city is rich in nature with lakes, mountains and forest.

Noboribetsu Onsen has always been one of top-ranked Onsen towns in Japan and it’s the most popular Onsen resort in Hokkaido. Visitor can enjoy bathing with a great view of wild nature such as tinted autumn leaves and snow during winter. Noboribetsu Onsen town can be accessed easily from Sapporo city or New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido.

There are 9 different kinds of thermal waters in Noboribetsu Onsen and they are considered as Japan’s best and most effective hot spring water. The quality of the water is the highest level in the world.

The most popular landmark in Noboribetsu is Jigokudani (Hell Valley). The valley is located just above the Onsen town and displays hot steam vents, sulfurous streams and other volcanic activity. It is a main source of Noboribetsu’s hot spring waters. The valley is also a top visited spot for autumn leaves viewing. Approx 30mins away from the valley, there is a natural Onsen pond (Oyunuma) and river (Oyunumagawa) where you can enjoy a natural foot bath.
