Event List in Tokyo This Weekend (June 3 and 4, 2023)
The best events, activities, and exhibitions held this weekend in Tokyo

Tokyo is such a massive city, there are always things to do or events happening everywhere all the time. From art exhibitions, theatrical performances, and musical concerts to cultural festivals and seasonal food-related events. This is good in the sense that you can actively look for something to do, and whatever that is that you’re looking for, there’s a good chance you’ll find it.
However, because there are so many events happening at the same time, many of these can pass by without you noticing, even if it’s an event you’d be very interested in. This is especially true during the weekends when there are more events than usual.
That’s where this article will hopefully come in handy. I have created a list of events for this week in Tokyo. If you live in Tokyo and have some free time, or if you happen to be visiting Tokyo during this week, then I hope at least one of these events will interest you to check it out.
Events during Summer in Japan
Summer in Japan is, similar to other countries, the most eventful season of the year. Families and friends get together for events, activities, and trips. Some people love to take this opportunity to escape from the city and go to the beach or the mountains. Other people prefer staying in Tokyo and joining the many events that take place during Summer.
Summer in Japan refers to mid-June through mid-September. Although the first 2 months tend to be rainy, all the exciting events such as matsuri and Fireworks festivals take place in July and August.
When it comes to Japanese traditional events, there is Marine Day (海の日) and Japanese Summer Star Festival (七夕) in July, Mountain Day (山の日) in August, and Respect for the Aged Day (敬老の日) in September. Other than this, Obon (お盆) takes place in either mid-August or July. Obon is the Buddhist festival to welcome the spirits of your ancestors, one of Japan’s most important holidays.
