A.k.a. the “Kyoto of East”, Kamakura (鎌倉) city is located in Kanagawa prefecture and it takes less than one hour from the central area of Tokyo. As the city used to be the capital of Japan in medieval age, there are numbers of beautiful historical sites, temples and shrines still remain.

2. Kingdom of Onsen, Kusatsu

Kusatsu (草津) is №1 Onsen town in East Japan and it is possible to visit even for a day from Tokyo. 4. Witness the largest stone Buddha in Boso Peninsula

Mount Nokogiriyama (鋸山) is a 330-meter tall mountain in Boso Peninsula, Chiba prefecture. It’s home to the largest stone Buddha(31 m) in Japan located towards the summit. The mountain has rope-way service to the top with amazing panoramic view of the peninsula or great hiking trail in nature. And there is also a scary peek point on the cliff called “Jigoku Nozoki” (Hell Lookout).

5. The best scenery in Japan, Chureito Pagoda

If anybody seeks for the best scenery or most photogenic spot in Japan, without hesitation, I’d highly recommend this place. Chureito Pagoda is in a site of Arakura Sengen Shrine, Fujiyoshida city, Yamanashi prefecture. The site offers the incredible view of the 5 storied red pagoda and Mt. Fuji behind.
